Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE ANIMAL AFTER IT IS CAUGHT?
In accordance with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish regulations, animals considered a threat to public safety or non-relocatable under law and must be euthanized at the location of capture. We always strive to act in the most respectful and legal manner possible.
While non-venomous snakes can often be relocated without special permits, the handling and relocation of venomous species, such as rattlesnakes, require adherence to stricter guidelines. Additionally, certain snake species may be protected or considered endangered, necessitating further permissions for their relocation.
what areas of new mexico do you serve?
We currently serve within a 50 mile radius of Edgewood. Longer distances will be considered on a case by case basis and will be subject to additional travel fees.
do you offer annual contracts?
We currently do not offer annual contracts, however, monthly contracts are accepted on a case by case basis. Please email to inquire.
what species do you cover?
Due to New Mexico State regulations we are limited to focusing on coyotes, skunks, ground squirrels, and all species of snakes on a full time basis. The trapping and removal of fur-bearing species such as raccoons, beavers, bobcats, and fox are limited to designated trapping seasons. Endangered species of snakes, however, must be handled by the NM Department of Game and Fish.
What methods do you use?
The majority of nuisance wildlife complaints are handled with humane trapping methods such as cage traps. In certain circumstances the use of a foot-hold trap may be required. In general, we handle each situation based upon the specific factors involved and always do our best to choose the most humane option. Predatory animals such as coyotes that are posing a threat to people or domestic animals may necessitate methods such as hunting.
DO YOU TRAP RACCOONS?
Outside of designated seasons, raccoons and any other fur bearing species must be handled through the New Mexico Department of Fish & Game. This includes RACCOONS, BEAVERS, BOBCATS, FOX, etc.
